Rob Neal has published numerous Op-ed columns with the Portland Press Herald, two professional journal articles, and now his first book. We Kill the Spiders, Ten Jobs for Men Who Love Women and Sports. It’s a short book of humor and advice for men who love women and sports and want to do both well. In the book he plays around with the classic gender stereotypes that to some degree fit us all. He has loved playing and watching a lot of sports since he was a little boy. Along with millions of other serious fans of all New England pro sports teams, he has helped bring multiple world championships to the area. He has yet to be paid for these services.
His forty year career has evolved from being a youth minister and counselor, family therapist, group facilitator, fund raiser, organizational development consultant, executive coach, public speaker, and writer. He lives in Yarmouth with his wife and is the father of three adult children. As a native of Atlanta, but the great grandson of true “Mainers" from Wilton, he considers himself one of the many hybrid humans who now call Maine home. He plays the piano and guitar very averagely but has a lot of fun doing so, and writes funky but sometimes inspired poetry.
