Moriah Freeman began her professional writing career upon retirement at age 64, but she has been an aspiring writer since high school. An avid journal keeper, she has more than thirty notebooks filled with memories, reflections, poetry, and soul-searching self-examination. But her first three careers—bible smuggler in communist Eastern Europe, a nun in an Episcopal convent, and administrator at Harvard University—occupied the first forty-five years of her adult life.
In January of 2017, she launched her blog With All Due Respect posting on issues of respect in everyday life. Subjects have included “The Elderly and End of Life Care,” “Respecting Those Who Serve You,” “Diaries from a Social Distance,” during the COVID pandemic, and “Brief Bursts,” short reflections on timely topics. She published her first book in April 2021. I’ve Got Your Back: Respecting the Irreplaceable Executive Assistant draws on her 25 years of administrative experience in higher education. Moriah is currently writing her first novel—a fantasy about chronic pain, its roots, and the insights it can foster. She also writes poetry and short stories.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, but now an American citizen, Moriah lives in Brunswick, Maine, with her spouse, therapy dog, and two cats. She enjoys gardening, meditation, swimming, hospice work, and photography. Her inner journey now tends toward Buddhism. She loves the ocean, solitude, making personalized greeting cards with her photos, listening to friends, and finding the exact word to create an accurate perception.
