The Light From Here by Maine writer Maureen Egan

Maureen Egan

Rockport-based Maureen Egan is an artist, writer, elder caregiver, and author of The Light From Here: A Breast Cancer Story.

A graduate of Holy Cross (BA), Maureen worked as an illustrator and small business owner in the 1980’s, then as Enrollment Director at the Ashwood Waldorf School in Rockport for over a decade before returning to art in 2007. Writing followed, precipitated by a cancer diagnosis in 2012.

Using both images and words, The Light From Here shows the author’s passage through illness, marriage, the making of art, and the process of healing.

Maureen’s paintings have hung at various galleries and other venues in the Camden area. Her writing has been published in PenBay Pilot, The Camden Herald, and the quarterly journal Wellspring, which she founded and edited for several years in the early 2000’s.
