Janet Morgan is the author of three Killdeer Farm Mystery novels: Katahdin Drowning, Composted Tyrant, and Poetic Justice. She was born and raised in the small coastal town of Wiscasset, Maine. Her love for writing and books coincided when she became a librarian at the Wiscasset Public Library in Wiscasset. After also working as the children’s librarian, she became the library’s director. After twenty-eight years, she decided to retire in order to pursue a writing career. She knows the field of librarianship well, so perhaps this is why the protagonist in her mystery series is a librarian.
Morgan received a BA in English from the University of Maine at Augusta while still working fulltime as a librarian. After graduating, she became a faculty assistant and has more recently taught at Wiscasset Adult and Community Education. She is currently teaching a creative-writing class at University of Maine at Augusta’s Senior College. She is active in assisting other aspiring writers by chairing the Programming Committee to promote library programs at the Wiscasset Public Library. Janet Morgan is also a member of Sisters in Crime, Sisters in Crime New England, and the Wiscasset Public Library Writers Group. She has spoken at several venues, both alone and in panel discussions with other Sisters in Crime.
Morgan is currently working on three projects. She is editing a nonfiction book about her experiences living off the grid on a central Maine farm. She is writing a history of the Wiscasset Public Library and the building that houses it. She has also begun her fourth Killdeer Farm mystery.
