James Hayman

James Hayman is a transplanted New Yorker. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Manhattan, he spent more than twenty years writing television advertising for clients such as the U.S. Army, Lincoln-Mercury, and Procter & Gamble. He moved to Portland, Maine, in 2001. Four years later he decided to scratch a lifelong itch to write fiction and began work on his first suspense thriller featuring homicide detective Mike McCabe. St. Martin’s/Minotaur published The Cutting in 2009. Hayman’s second McCabe thriller, The Chill of Night, came out the following year. Number three, Darkness First, is due in October 2013. James lives in Portland with his wife, Jeanne O’Toole Hayman. He is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers.
