Dave Patterson is the author of Soon the Light Will be Perfect (Hanover Square Press). Set in rural Vermont, the novel chronicles a family’s struggle to survive a whirlwind summer marred by cancer, poverty, and hard-lined Catholicism. The novel will be released in April of 2019.
His short stories have appeared in Slice Magazine, Hot Metal Bridge, The Drunken Odyssey, Clare Literary Journal, The Apple Valley Review, and Blinders Literary Journal. In 2008, he won first place in the Bread Loaf School of English short fiction competition.
As a journalist and beer critic, his work has appeared in the Portland Press Herald, Maine Sunday Telegram, Maine Today, Activity Maine, and Maine Brew Guides. He is a regular contributor to the news magazine television show, 207.
Patterson holds an MFA from the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast program and an MA from the Bread Loaf School of English. He lives in Cape Elizabeth where he is at work on his second novel.
