Nina B. Lichtenstein, a native of Oslo, Norway, holds a PhD in French literature from UCONN (2007) and an MFA in creative nonfiction from USM’s Stonecoast program (2020). She has taught literatures, languages, and writing on three continents, and is the founder and director of Maine Writers Studio which offers a bi-monthly literary salon & open mic in Brunswick, workshops, and retreats. Aside from her academic publications (see website) her creative nonfiction writing and reported pieces have appeared in The Washington Post, Tablet Magazine, Lilith, The Forward, AARP, and Brevity, among other places, and also in three recent anthologies, Ink by Hippocampus Books, Stained: an anthology of writing about menstruation, by Querencia Press, and Awakenings: Stories of Body and Consciousness by ELJ Editions.
