Marc Swan is a poet with work published in the small press throughout the US, in Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Australia and New Zealand: Atlanta Review, Crannóg, Exquisite Corpse, Poet Lore, Gravel, Tears in the Fence, Gargoyle, The Antigonish Review, Queen’s Quarterly, Poetry NZ, and Westerly, among others. Previously on Cape Cod, Marc participated in two writing groups and organized a series of poetry readings. In 2017, he was a featured reader in the launch of the Nuclear Impact Anthology in Pasadena, California.
Tall-lighthouse press in London, England published two earlier collections: In a Distinct Minor Key (2007) and Simple Distraction (2009). His fourth collection, today can take your breath away, was published by Sheila-na-gig Editions in 2018.
In a review of the fourth collection, Les Robinson, publisher of tall-lighthouse press, said: “In this new collection Marc Swan continues to create his own special type of poetry, one that is conversational, steadfast but never predictable. With deft maturity his acute observations on aging, coupled with a quietly stated anger on the social tensions of America today, reveal a uniquely astute voice. These are poems that care from a master of his craft.”
In 2020, Marc’s fifth collection of poems, all it would take, was published by tall-lighthouse press.
From Alan Catlin’s review in Misfit issue #30 in 2020— “There is a rueful sadness and a celebratory tone, to these poems, that achieve that delicate balance between sentiment and despair.”
Marc lives in coastal Maine with his wife Dd, an artist, clothing designer and maker.
