Kat Zagaria Buckley

Kat is a writer and curator focusing on the intersection of contemporary art and motherhood. Her work often blends the personal and the art historical to arrive at new understandings of identity, motherhood, and daughterhood.

Kat's writing has been featured in effy literary mag, the inaugural issue of HEAL Zine by JustBirth Space, Textile: Cloth and Culture, The Boston Art Review, The Berg Fashion Library, and others.

Kat holds a Master of Arts in Modern and Contemporary Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History with Concentrations in Curatorial Studies and Book Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. In 2023, she was a Curator/Writer-in-Residence at Hewnoaks. In her curatorial practice, Kat writes essays to accompany her exhibitions, the most recent of which is “On Deterritorialized Relationality,” to accompany the exhibition “Of Sibyls and Source: Ranges and Ruptures.”
