Heather Morrison-Tapley

Heather Morrison-Tapley is a nationally licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with a practice in Kennebunk, Maine, where she lives with her husband and children. She recently published her first novel. Set in both New York City and a village in England, The Herbalist tells the story of a woman who looked like she had the perfect life in New York City, but when that life starts to fall apart, she realizes none of it had ever really felt right. So she abandons her career, relationships and home and moves to a cottage in a small English village. There, she starts studying and working with an old herbalist and strange and wonderful things begin to happen. As she heals her own life, she finds that being a healer is the calling she had been searching for all along.

Heather is a dual US/UK citizen and grew up spending school years at home in the New York area and summers in Great Britain with her family. She has a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and completed an internship in Acupuncture & herbal medicine at the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital in Beijing, China. She also has a master’s degree from the University of Chicago in Social Science. Heather also spent time each summer in Maine where she fell in love with the state. After living in New York, Paris and Santa Fe, she moved here and never plans to leave! Heather feels Maine has the kind of magic that she loves to write about - that special something you can’t quite put your finger on, but that you can feel all around.

She is currently working on her second novel, set in the Scottish Highlands.
