Alison Jones Webb

Alison Jones Webb is a public health professional, recovery ally and advocate whose writing focuses on recovery from addiction and harm reduction. She also writes creative nonfiction.

Webb is a regular writer for Journey Magazine and is under contract with North Atlantic Books to write her first book, Second Chances: Addiction, Hope and Recovery in Our Communities.

Webb, who holds a Master’s in Public Health and is a Certified Prevention Specialist and Registered Recovery Coach, has worked in public health in Maine for over 20 years, focusing on grassroots community outreach and organizing, substance use and overdose prevention, community-based substance use recovery supports, and linking community members with healthcare services. Webb has experience writing technical reports and public presentations, grant writing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based programs and practices in substance use prevention and treatment, conducting focus groups and key informant interviews, and developing messages in plain language. Webb has worked with and trained community groups and individuals to develop advocacy strategies for legislation to increase access to medication-assisted treatment and to prevent drug overdose deaths.

Webb divides her time between Portland, Maine and Charlottesville, VA.
