Norma Salway is an author of three books written for adults, including her latest, I'm Just a Kid, You Know! In this book, the author shares wisdom and often humorous stories from her decades spent in the classroom. Touched by a Hummingbird, which she wrote and illustrated, tells the true story of rescuing a hummingbird prior to a dear friend's funeral. The book is comforting to those mourning a loss, and its small design is suitable as a sympathy card/book. The Spirit of Songo is a collection of original poems and vintage photos about the lake near the author's Albany childhood home.
A retired teacher and University of Southern Maine graduate, Salway currently lives in Portland with her Maine Coon cat, Gusty, having spent her youth and teaching years in the Bethel, Maine, area near Songo Pond in Albany Township. She is available for book talks and public-speaking engagements.
In addition, Salway is also an oral-history presenter. Along with a sister, she has created unique celebrations of the talents of women in history highlighted through presentations and traveling displays featuring vintage aprons, linens, and clothing.
